Pop/Rock Cover Band

Rockin’ Moxie is a soulful, pop/rock cover band that does just that! We rock the moxie, and we do it with the soulful sounds of Duffy, Elle King, and Chapman - with the rock flavor of Petty, Stray Cats, and Cash - with the alternative mix of Pearl Jam, Bush, and Gin Blossoms - and of course with pop anthems of Pink, Gaga, and Morissette. Our high-energy show leaves music lovers with an experience that both surprises and satisfies.

Featuring Rockin’ Moxie Band or Rockin’ Moxie “Sleeveless”

About Us

Rockin’ Moxie was born out of lead singer, Rachel’s, love for singing and performing. She grew up enjoying both in the form choir and various talent contests, all influenced by her mother’s musical talent and shared love of music. She met her husband on eHarmony in ‘05, Chip “Johnny Cash” McPheeters, who shared her love for music on many a karaoke date night. And she got the chance to finally perform live music weekly with drummer John Hill while sharing in a friend’s 60’s band called The Relics from ‘11-‘14. With this experience under her belt, she and Chip started their band in 2015 whose name is inspired by the swagger of Rachel’s natural showmanship ~Rockin’ Moxie.

Though they are high school teachers by day, they reached out to recruit fellow teacher, Jacob Burlingame, to play lead guitar. Long-time friend, drummer John Hill, was ready to continue building on the chemistry that the two had already solidified on stage after playing for four years together. Rachel wanted nothing more than to share the joy of performing with her role model ~ her mother ~ musically talented on vocals and keys, who agreed to make some awesome memories while filling out the band’s sound. And all the while, Chip showed his dedication and support of their dream having learned how to play bass guitar, run the sound system, and control the show’s lighting in eight short months before Rockin’ Moxie’s debut in May 2016.

The band performs regularly around both Kane and DeKalb counties at summer festivals and local establishments. Rachel and Chip now offer an "unplugged" feel for a more intimate show conducive for wineries, restaraunt/bar patios, cocktail hours in the form of Rockin' Moxie "Sleeveless."
